Tbilisi. CSOs released a joint statement, expressing concerns "over pressure exercised on the CSOs. Recently we have witnessed especially increased attacks on part of CSOs whose activities protect democratic values, support the idea of freedom and equality, and strive to create the European type of state governance systems.
... We believe that BidzinaIvanishvili's statement is a position of the state's informal ruler and not that of an individual citizen. Unjustified rhetoric of representatives of the ruling political force is a deviation from values declared by the authorities. These statements leave an impression of a targeted campaign against the CSOs. Such approach not only damages democratic values and ideas, which the civil society member CSOs serve, but in addition strengthens groups opposing these values. This trend is extremely alarming and undermines the state's democratic development", the statement says. For the full text (geo).
