Kakheti. The Civil Society Institute has presented
in the Telavi Civic Engagement Center the web portal of CSOs - www.csogeorgia.org.The event aimed at informing the
Kakheti-based CSOs, media, students and interested persons about the resources
and opportunities that the portal integrates.CSO and media representatives and
students have attended the meeting in Telavi. Next week the Civil Society
Institute launches presentations in western Georgia.CSO portal
was created through partnership of the Civil Society Institute and the
"Open Society - Georgia" Foundation, as well as with the support of
the EED Foundation and the

Kakheti. The "Georgian Children's and Youth
Development Fund" has held a workshop in the Telavi Civic Engagement
Center with the NGOs. The first grant competition of 2013 and the program
priorities were presented at the meeting. Organizations were fully briefed
about the stages of competition, rules for drawing up grant proposals and all
other additional procedures that will assist them in participation in the
Fund's current grant competition.
Tbilisi. The Georgian Young
Lawyers' Association and the Caucasian Institute for Peace, Democracy and
Development implement the project "Promoting Well-Managed Migration
between Georgia and the EU". The project aims to promote well-managed
migration between the EU and Georgia and focuses on the following tasks:
migration and development, promoting the development of the migration
legislation and policies, fight against illegal migration and trafficking and
protection of the migrants' rights. Activities will be carried out in Tbilisi
and 10 regions of Georgia.

Tbilisi.The Charter of Journalistic Ethics has organized the discussion on "Coverage of violence in the Georgian media". The participants have discussed the mistakes made by the Georgian media when covering violence and how the journalists should behave when working on such topics. The examples of wrong reporting and covering of the shots demonstrating violence were examined.

Tbilisi. The Association
"Woman and Business" and the "Penal Reform International"
have organized the events on March 7 to commemorate the International Women's
Day. The round-table titled "Issues of resocialization of convicted
women" was held, at which SozarSubari and the Deputy Head of the EC
Delegation Boris Iaroshevich delivered speeches. The exhibition of works of
inmate women - "Art for Dignity" - was organized as part of the
events.

Samegrelo. As part of the joint program "Promoting Gender
Equality in Georgia" of the UN Women's organization, writer DatoTurashvili
has read the play on the topic of violence against women "Awaiting
Dodo" on March 6 in the Zugdidi Civic Engagement Center, which was
followed by debates with participation of students, NGO representatives and
citizens.

Coalition for "Independent and Transparent Justice" has released the
statement on the recent developments surrounding the courts. The Coalition
condemns any action that may jeopardize the impartial administration of
justice."The Coalition observes the developments in the judicial system and

Tbilisi. The Coalition "For
Media Advocacy" has released a statement concerning the developments in
the Public Broadcaster. The Coalition believes that bringing in order the
situation in the Public Broadcaster and creating a normal work regime is
possible only through structural reorganization, which in the first place
implies the formation of a new Board of Trustees, as well as clear delimitation
of powers between the Board of Trustees and the television's executive
management.The
Coalition urges the Parliament of Georgia to expedite the examination of
amendments and supplements to the Law on Broadcasting.

Tbilisi.The Georgian Young Economists' Association has drafted comments and
recommendations on the draft Labor Code. "The Labor Code may indeed
require amendments, but this should not happen by violation of interests of any
party - an employer or an employee, and it should be balanced to the maximum
extent. We should not forget that an employer creates jobs, while an employee
is a major resource for any organization", says the document.

Georgia has posted a new blog-post on its web page – "Public Broadcaster –
A Victim of Political Games". "Following such political games it is
clear that the Public Broadcaster vitally needs good management (Board of
Trustees, General Director and management). Management must work unsparingly to
create the strong, highly professional and independent broadcaster and must be
devoted to the idea of public broadcasting. Currently the Public Broadcaster
does not have its mission set and fails to comprehend its role in the
society", says the blog-post.

Adjara.On March 5, the Association "Independent
Journalists' House" has held the discussion in the Batumi Press Cafe on
the strategy of the Government of Georgia for decentralization and the
self-government development.This
strategy provides for the formation of public self-government in each
settlement, territorial optimization and empowering of municipal
self-government, introduction of self-government elements in the regional
authorities, creation of effective mechanisms of the state supervision, and the
legal, technical and resource support of the reform process.The
discussion was held as part of the NED-funded project "Development
of Democratic Ideas".

Kakheti.Telavi
Youth Initiative Group started collecting books for the inmates. The initiative
aims to collect Georgian books for the inmates and provide them to the prison
libraries. Boxes for the books were placed in the Telavi Media Cafe and the
Civic Engagement Center. Telavi Youth Initiative Group calls on the Telavi
residents to be more active.

Kakheti. As part of the "Promoting Gender Equality
in Georgia" program, the UN women's organization has held a meeting in the
Telavi Media Cafe in connection with the International Women's Day. Writer
DatoTurashvili has read the play "Awaiting Dodo", created for
condemning violence against women. Debates were held following the reading of
the play, with participation of experts in gender issues Tata Tsopurashvili,
Lela Gaprindashvili and Tamar Sabedashvili.
Tbilisi. In partnership with NGO "Union of
Wives of the Disabled and Killed Warriors" (women's union) and the Gender
Equality Network, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) has
presented the project "Gender Equality in Political Processes" on
March 1 in the Tbilisi Arts Academy. The project aims to strengthen women's
politically empowering mechanisms for the next elections; enhance gender
equality network; raise public awareness on the mechanisms of gender equality
and empowering women politically.

Tbilisi. The Institute for the Development of
Freedom of Information (IDFI) has released the copies of the orders signed by the Prime
Minister of Georgia in 2012 obtained from the Government Chancellery. The
orders concerned allocation of funds for various purposes from the Reserve Fund
of the Government of Georgia. IDFI has posted total of 59 copies on the web
