Kvemo Khartli. Imereti.The social entrepreneurship training course for students of professional colleges has been completed. The 60-hour course, designed specifically for students of vocational schools, was conducted by experts who also trained the teachers to implement the course. Students from "Iberia", "Construct2", "Gantiadi" colleges, and Akaki Tsereteli State University Professional Training Center participated in the training. The course covered topics: understanding and calculating economic indicators necessary for business success, creating a future development plan for entrepreneurial competencies, identifying and optimizing opportunities, generating, developing and evaluating ideas, business planning, resource management, and simplified financial accounting reporting.  The training was organized within the framework of the project “Strengthening Social Entrepreneurship Skills in Vocational Schools,” which is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Center, Childfund Deutschland E.V. Samtskhe-Javakheti.On 11-15 June, the Tolerance and Diversity Institute (TDI) and the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, University of Oslo, held concluding two two-day seminars for the second cohort of the joint certified international course, Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) for All. Shida Kartli. On March 19, 2024, in Gori, at Tourism informational center, Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC), held a presentation on the project "Introduction of Social Entrepreneurship as a Key to Competitive Youth and Strengthened Vocational Schools in Georgia." The event was attended by representatives from various sectors including education, the private sector, civil organizations, government institutions, authorities, and pilot schools.  A 30-month project (2023-2026) supports the introduction of the educational concept of student social enterprises in selected vocational schools. The project aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial and economic skills of young people, integrate the topic of social entrepreneurship into the curriculum of vocational schools, and improve teachers' skills to teach social entrepreneurship and provide support for student social enterprises. Tbilisi.The DEP team has finalized working on the report for the study "Barriers to Accessing Higher and Vocational Education for Youth from Non-Dominant Ethnic Groups in Georgia." Due to the complex research design, we had the valuable opportunity to explore the challenges encountered by both ethnic Armenian and ethnic Azerbaijani youth in the process of receiving education from various perspectives. Tbilisi.With a grant issued within the framework of the USAID Civic Education Program, Kings Georgia implemented a financial literacy project.  The goal of the project was to promote financial education among students and included sessions with industry specialists, pre-tests and tests, with the Olympiad being the final stage of the project. USAID Civic Education Program Director Marina Ushveridze and Bank of Georgia CSR Head Ana Lomtadze attended the award ceremony.  During the event, 12 best students of each class category were awarded. Students who won the first place were awarded tablets from the prize fund established by the Bank of Georgia, headphones were given to the second place winners, and business literature was given to the third place winners. Tbilisi.64 Students Across 21 Educational Institutions Embark on a Journey of Excellence in Agriculture and Environmental Studies with Support from UNDP, Sweden, and Switzerland. On 19 December, 64 students from 21 educational institutions received their scholarship certificates for the 2023/2024 academic year from representatives of Georgia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, UNDP, the Embassy of Sweden to Georgia, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Building on this success, UNDP and EIEC have expanded their support to students pursuing agricultural professions. On November 2, 2023, in Kutaisi, IDFI held a lecture for the students of the autumn school within the framework of the project "Youth awareness through engagement", which is implemented by the Center of Regional Initiatives "Bright Future". Within the framework of the lecture, the Soviet occupation and its consequences in the memory of Georgia were discussed. Now in its over thirteen years, Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) allows Georgian secondary school students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades to study at an American high school and live with an American host family. The FLEX program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of State program and is administered by American Councils for International Education in Georgia. The program will offer scholarships to secondary school students from Georgia for the 2024-2025 academic years. Scholarship recipients will be provided with a round-trip ticket from their home to the United States and back as well as a monthly allowance for living expenses. While in the U.S., Georgian students will have the opportunity to share Georgian culture. They will learn about the United States firsthand by participating in family life, school study, and extracurricular activities. Recipients of FLEX scholarships are selected by an independent panel of experienced educators in the United States based on merit demonstrated in the application materials. Merit is determined by evaluating the online application, recommendations, English language proficiency, and an applicant’s demonstrated preparedness for a yearlong exchange experience. We invite all students to participate in the competition who: (1) Are presently studying in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades and have good academic standing; (2) Were born between January 1, 2007, and July 15, 2009; (3) Are eligible to receive a U.S. visa; (4) Have not lived in the United States for more than three months in the last five years; (5) Are citizens of Georgia; (6) Have previously studied English or demonstrate English language abilities. The FLEX program is open to all high school students who meet the requirements of the program, including students with disabilities. Over 270 disabled students have already studied in the U.S. in this program. The age/grade requirements for disabled students differ from the requirements for other applicants. Disabled candidates must be born between February 15, 2006, and July 15, 2009, and must be studying in 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. The first and second rounds will be held online, semi-final – interview, and testing- will be held offline. Applicants can participate in the recruitment process from any location that has Internet access, using either a mobile device or a computer. The standards for the program will remain very high and we expect competition to be strong. The first round of testing is open to all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria above and will take place online from August 1 until September 28, 2023. It includes a preliminary online application and three essay questions that must be submitted within 10 days of starting the application.  Eligible applicants can apply here... The UNICEF shares the tips for a very hot summer. “Heatstroke occurs due to long stays outside during high temperatures, and as a consequence of a direct exposure to sunshine, as well as a consequence of staying in an enclosed space, due to damp and overheated air, i.e. in public transport, an automobile, or an overheated apartment. Even though a parent may feel comfortable at a certain temperature, this should not necessarily imply that the child feels the same way, since he/she is yet to have his/her thermoregulation stabilised. Newborns, infants, and toddlers should be taken out early in the morning and later in the afternoon. It is not advisable to take young children out during the hottest period of the day, from 10AM to 5PM. The child should be dressed in loose-fitting clothes made of natural materials (cotton, linen), with his/her head covered with an obligatory cotton cap, or a hat. Always have with you a bottle of water that you should offer the child frequently, at least a sip or two (instead of water, this can also be a mild lemonade).
