"Based on a legislative proposal of NGO representatives, on 1 August 2014 the Parliament of Georgia has adopted a bill regulating secret surveillance. International experts have assessed newly regulated standards of carrying out secret investigative actions as a progressive step. Yet, Beselia-Sesiashvili-Popkhadze’s legislative initiative is an attempt to change high human rights standards set by the 1 August 2014 laws”, the statement says.
