''Fair Elections'' comments on decision regarding scheduling an elections date
Tbilisi. International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy responds to the issue regarding an official date for the elections of the Parliament of Georgia announced by the President of Georgia.
"To avoid legal misunderstandings during pre-election period, we apply to the relevant authorities, the President of Georgia, the Government, the Parliament, the Central Election Commission to make an official clarification about the norm of law, on the basis of which it is possible to start an official pre-election campaign on August 8, and not immediately upon publication of a legislative act regarding scheduling the elections, as stipulated by established procedures of the ''Election Code of Georgia'' of the Organic Law'' – is stated on the web-page of the organization.
