Tbilisi. The Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) responds to changes related to a trial by jury.
''At the same time, beyond the draft law, it is important to mention the paragraph 5 of the article 82 of the Constitution of Georgia, which states that ''at general courts cases are settled by juries in the circumstances and in accordance with rules, stipulated by law''. We consider that such a general record gives a broad interpretation possibility and provides the government with unlimited power to determine legislative framework for regulating a trial by jury considering current political context and interests'' – is stated on the webpage of the organization.
