Campaign for Restricting Tobacco Advertising
Adjara. On January 17, "Welfare Foundation”
held an information meeting in the Batumi Civic Engagement Center with the
local CSO and media representatives, which aimed at requesting the restriction
of tobacco advertising and holding this campaign at the local level. According
to the authors of the draft law, as direct as well as indirect advertising of
tobacco use must be restricted. At the initiative of the Alliance, the advocacy
of the rights of passive smokers has already been launched in Georgia. There is
a need to carry out this campaign, because despite the fact that the Law to
protect the rights of non-smokers was adopted in 2003, it has never been
enforced.
