Tbilisi. Civil society organizations, operating in Georgia, release a statement regarding detention of a Georgian activist in Akhalgori.

"We, the undersigned organizations, respond to the facts of persecution committed on August 16, 2017, by the de facto regime of Tskhinvali against Tamar Mearakishvili, a Georgian civic activist and journalist living in Akhalgori district, and call on the government of Georgia to use all available diplomatic and legal means to ensure protection of safety and rights of the activists”, - the statement reads.
