Appraisal of ISFED - “Judiciary in a vicious circle”

Tbilisi. "International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy” (ISFED) has published an appraisal of reforms and condition of the Georgian judiciary.
"If we do not want to resemble an authoritative state where courts are puppets of a regime and act as defenders of a ruling elite, it is necessary for the state to give up leverages that are at its disposal, let court remain a real implementer of its authority and allow it to carry out its real function - protect democracy and the constitution. To achieve this, the state has to show its political will and acknowledge the problem, which, unfortunately, has not been overcome by any of the "waves” of reforms of the judiciary” – is stated in the appraisal.
