Adjara. CSO "For the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities" has presented the results of the study on December17 in the
Batumi Civic Engagement Center. The results have demonstrated that wheelchairs
provided to persons with disabilities in the region were mostly of a low
quality. According to TamazMzhavanadze, the organization has developed the
vouchering program and has sent a special recommendation letter to the Adjarian
Ministry of Health, which has taken the CSO's recommendations into account. The
agency will issue a 300-GEL voucher since January 1, while a person will choose
a wanted wheelchair on his/her own. According to the CSO, there are up to 100
persons with disabilities registered in the region.
