Ombudsman’s Opinion on the Local Self-Government Servants
Tbilisi. On February 28 the Public Defender has released
opinions on declaring the local self-government servants as acting officials. In the Public
Defender’s opinion, "this regulation clearly ignores the rights warranted under
Article 29 of the Constitution of Georgia, which will inevitably become a
subject of a constitutional dispute. If the Parliament fails to undertake
measures on the disputed norm, the threat of violation of the citizens’ right
to pursue activities in civil service will turn into the reality after the 2014
local self-government elections,” says the statement published on the
Ombudsman’s web page.
