“Young Economists’ Association” on the Strike of Workers in the Kazreti Mine
Tbilisi. The "Young Economists’
Association” echoes the strike of workers in the Kazreti mine going on since
February 14. The "Association believes it is time for the
parties to use the right to appoint a mediator, because further prolongation of
dispute significantly damages both parties. Further, we call on the Ministry of
Labor, Health and Social Welfare of Georgia to effectively discharge its legal
obligations in order to timely end the dispute by taking into maximum account
the interests of both parties. We consider the state must apply new regulations
of the Labor Code, thus demonstrating its efficiency or need for relevant
amendments as at legislative as well as at enforcement levels,” says the
released statement.
