GYLA Releases Letter from UNESCO

Tbilisi. Last November the Government of Georgia has submitted in the Parliament of Georgia the draft law on amendments to the Law of Georgia "on the Cultural Heritage". "Pursuant to the legislative initiative, 2nd Paragraph is added to Article 17, according to which - in special circumstances and in case of urgency of the state importance, a monument may be deprived of a status of a monument (apart from the monuments of a national category and/or included in the world heritage list) in agreement with the Ministry, by the submission of the agency authorized to initiate a draft legal act before the Government of Georgia, and based on the decree of the Government of Georgia," explains GYLA's web page in the social network.In December 2013 GYLA has addressed concerning this issue the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
