EMC Releases Statement on the Anti-Discrimination Law
Tbilisi. The Human Rights Education and Monitoring
Center has released a statement on the anti-discrimination law. "We
believe that adoption of the current version of the Law, which slightly widens
the powers of the Public Defender, will not substantially change the
legislative and institutional status quo and thus will not become an effective
tool for fight against discrimination. ... We hope that the legislative body
will organize public and inclusive examination of the draft Law and will be
open to acknowledging the proposals and assessments provided by the civil
society," the statement states.
