The Public Defender about implementation of the Law on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination
Tbilisi. The Public Defender released a statement. "The Public Defender of Georgia positively assesses adoption of the anti-discrimination legislation by the Parliament of Georgia which is essential for signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union and the visa liberation process. ...Despite a positive assessment, the Public Defender of Georgia has three essential observations regarding the draft law which has a crucial importance for effective implementation of the important law and at this point has not been considered by the Government and the Parliament. Ignoring of these observations may raise doubts about the effective mechanisms to combat discrimination and in fact, could not be conducive to the Public Defender’s effective work in this direction", says the statement.
