Project ''Democracy Starts with You'' in Akhaltsikhe
Samtskhe-Javakheti. The event took place on October 22 in the
Akhaltsikhe Public School #1 as part of the project "Democracy Starts with
You”.The EU-funded project "Democracy
Starts with You” was launched on 1 November 2009 and is implemented by the
Konrad Adenauer and Eduardo Frei Foundations, as well as by the Baku, Tbilisi
and Erevan schools of political science. The project promotes civic engagement
of the youth residing in the South Caucasus regions and the minority-settled
districts.20 schools are selected from each country. Three schools are involved in
the project from Samtskhe-Javakheti: the Akhaltsikhe Public Schools #1 and #3 and the Aspindza
Public School #1. During four days the schoolchildren will attend trainings
that include discussions on various important topics, demonstration of video
films, and the simulated games. Upon the completion of the project the winner
schoolchildren of the Georgian, Armenian and Azerbaijani schools will gather in
Tbilisi. Finally, 5 participants will travel to Belgium.
