ACDI/VOCA is announcing an opening for the position of Farmer-to-Farmer Program Coordinator.
Duty station: Tbilisi, with frequent travel to the regions.
Program summary:
ACDI/VOCA is implementing the USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) program. F2F's overall goal is to generate rapid, sustained and broad-based economic growth through short-term technical assistance in the agricultural sector. A secondary goal is to increase the American public's understanding of international development issues and programs as well as international understanding of the United States and U.S. development program. Volunteer activity supports growth within specified agricultural value chains and impacts the host organizations through one of four core assistance areas: economic growth, organizational development, financial services and/or environmental management.
Summary:
The F2F Program Coordinator will support the program through the following essential duties and responsibilities:
** Supports the F2F Country Director in overall administration and implementation of ACDI/VOCA F2F country activities.
** Assists in the outreach to targeted host country organizations and documents need for short-term technical assistance through volunteer specialists.
** Provides advice and guidance to requesting host country organizations to (1) define their immediate and longer-term needs for short-term, technical assistance from agricultural and environmental specialists, and (2) completes applications in detail and accurately defines and writes scopes of work for volunteer assignments as directed by the Country Director.
** Assesses viability of host organization requests made to ACDI/VOCA, taking into account priority of development needs, terms of references and scopes of work for the proposed assignments, necessary background of potential volunteers, and willingness and ability of requesting organizations to provide necessary substantive staff and logistical support to the volunteer as directed by the Country Director.
** Collects baseline and carries out impact indicator surveys according to the F2F M&E Plan.
** Contributes to program reporting, public affairs and coordination activities.
** Lends administrative and programmatic support to F2F volunteers while in country.
** Ensures the safety and security of volunteers while in country.
** Ensures that F2F volunteers end-of-assignment reports are sent to ACDI/VOCA Country Representative, HQ, USAID, host government, and host organization as directed by the Country Director.
** Ensures that a strong and lasting relationship is maintained between hosts of F2F volunteer assignments and ACDI/VOCA.
Qualifications:
** Proven management skills, including strong communication, planning, negotiating and interpersonal skills. Ability to represent ACDI/VOCA before hosts and stakeholders, build effective management and program teams, and negotiate with other donors, contractors and host country organizations. Ability to understand macro development issues and develop strategized policy recommendations. Ability to analyze mixed issues and develop project specific recommendations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
** Proposal and report writing and economic development experience.
Requirements:
** Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in agriculture, international development or other relevant field required. USAID experience preferred. MBA or MA/MS in agriculture, rural credit, SME development or related field preferred.
** Minimum one year supporting donor programs, finances and staff in the area of international development or cooperative management.
** Fluency in English and working knowledge of PC based word processing and spreadsheets are required.
