People in Need is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance, while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest relief and development organizations in Central/Eastern Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 20 years. People in Need has been working in Georgia since 2005 and has offices in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
People in Need is currently launching the European Union-funded project "Enhancing Small Farmers' Cooperation and Productivity in Imereti and Racha Regions". In partnership with the leading Georgian partners, the project is planned to be implemented in Imereti and Racha regions of western Georgia. Within the framework of the project, People in Need and partners will aim to reduce rural poverty in western Georgia. Via the development of agricultural cooperatives, the project targets semi-commercial small farmers as well as agribusiness and rural entrepreneurs in order to increase their productivity and income as members of business-oriented groups such as cooperatives and associations.
People in Need is recruiting an Information Officer to be responsible for coordinating collection of M&E data, managing project databases and supporting project information campaigns. She/he will be also assigned administrative duties within the project including contract preparation.
Location: Kutaisi, with frequent travel throughout Imereti and Racha regions
Reporting to: Project Manager
The project is planned to begin in January 2014 and the duration is 3.5 years.
Responsibilities:
** Coordinating collection of M&E data, documentation and archiving.
** Managing project databases including monitoring data, participant lists and beneficiary database.
** Supporting preparation of materials for information campaigns and capacity building events for project participants.
** Preparing contracts and performing other administrative duties for the project team
** Liaising with the logistics and finance team to ensure proper planning and documentation of all purchases, events and other activities.
** Performing English/Georgian translation of documents and interpretation at meetings as required
** Maintaining updated knowledge on sector specific documents, government policies, development projects of other stakeholders in the target areas.
** Performing other duties as requested by project management.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
** University degree in Business, Management, International Development or related studies highly desired.
** 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in working with an international or national NGO as staff responsible for M&E coordination and reporting.
** Experience in administrative support functions highly desired.
** Fluency in written and spoken English and Georgian required.
** MS Office proficiency.
** Well developed interpersonal and teamwork skills.
** Ability to work independently and travel frequently throughout the target regions
** Experience in working in the agriculture, agribusiness or business development sectors desired.
Hours: Full-time position starting late-January 2014.
Salary and benefits: Based on experience.
