Representation of The United Methodist Committee on Relief in Georgia - UMCOR-Georgia - announces an opening for the position of the Agriculture Project Manager (APM) to be based in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The APM is responsible to manage, guide, and oversee the "Provision of Improved Agricultural Methods (PIAM) Project" project funded by UMCOR. The main goal of the project is: To increase the food security and income of 150 of the most vulnerable small farmer households in the Shida Kartli and Kvemo Kartli regions of Georgia.
The APM is responsible to the UMCOR-Georgia Program Officer.
Major Responsibilities:
** Provide overall management of the project.
** Implement appropriate project interventions, which meet the goal and objectives of the project.
** Plan and implement strategies for each intervention.
** Select beneficiaries for the project.
** Organize agriculture trainings in the target districts.
** Deal with government representatives, local authorities and community members in the targeted regions of the project.
** Collaborate with partner organizations to meet objectives of the project.
** Ensure that all activities are in compliance with UMCOR's policy and regulations.
** Identify Georgian agriculture experts for planned trainings.
** Ensure that project expenditures are in compliance with budget, donor guidelines and with internal procedures.
** Develop monthly and final reports.
** Execute all other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills required:
** University degree;
** Minimum five years of working experience in an international development setting in the agriculture field;
** Experience in plant/crops protection and soil management;
** Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Should be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work at irregular hours;
** Computer literacy;
** Confirmed management skills;
** High sense of responsibility;
** Good communication and interpersonal skills;
** Proficiency in spoken and written Russian and English
** Driving license desirable;
** In addition, the successful candidate should have: in-depth management experience with demonstrated ability to lead a team, as well as, work as part of a project team towards common objectives; staff mentoring and training experience.
Starting date: ASAP
This position is funded for nine months.
