About IFES:
The International Foundation for Electoral System (IFES) is an international, independent, non-governmental organization providing professional support to electoral democracy. IFES in Georgia is implementing the Increased Trust in the Electoral Process (ITEP) program, a four-year initiative funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This program is aimed at increasing trust in the electoral process among the public and political participants over three election cycles - 2012 parliamentary elections, 2013 presidential election and 2014 local elections. The project involves close collaboration with the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) on matters of capacity building and transparency, technical support to Georgian civil society organizations and media outlets, work with political parties on election law reform, efforts to improve voter access, and extensive voter and civic education, focusing on minorities and vulnerable groups.
Title: Program Assistant/Translator
Reports to: Chief of Party
Location: Tbilisi
Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, the Program Assistant/Translator will provide programmatic backstopping for all activity areas in the project and serve as the primary translator for the field office. S/he will assist in reporting and event-planning, monitor and report on local developments pertinent to the project, provide translation/interpretation services, and facilitate commodity procurements as needed.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
** Assist in implementation of IFES programmatic activities;
** Provide verbal and written interpretations to international staff;
** Translate documents;
** Provide minutes and reports of meetings and conferences attended;
** Assist in compilation of weekly reports and reports in general, and
** Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief of Party.
Qualifications:
** University diploma (preferably in English language);
** Excellent command of both English and Georgian languages (written and oral); knowledge of Russian language is a plus;
** Previous work experience with an international organization is desirable;
** General understanding of political processes in the country;
** Previous election-related experience is a plus;
** Strong computer (MS Office, internet) and typing skills;
** Professional demeanor and appearance;
** Highly organized and able to work well in a team.
