Position: Civil Society Specialist
Location: Georgia
Reports to: Chief of Party
Division: Media, Technology and Civil Society
Summary of the position:
IREX is seeking a Civil Society Specialist to provide expertise for an anticipated USAID-funded project to build the capacity of the civil society sector in Georgia. The project will focus on broadening citizen engagement in civil society and strengthening the CSO community's capacity to manage and sustain itself and respond to a changing environment. The Civil Society Specialist will manage components of the program and provide direct technical assistance.
The position is contingent on funding.

Summary of responsibilities:
** Provide expertise in civil society sector strengthening for Georgia, including identifying strengths and gaps and developing and implementing program strategies to build capacity
** Provide direct technical assistance to Georgian partners and beneficiaries in areas including organizational capacity development, advocacy, outreach, coalition building, conflict resolution, and policy analysis
** Conduct needs assessments and organizational analyses for civil society organizations and networks
** Contribute to preparation of annual work plans and other aspects of the program strategy
** Assist in managing effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities.
Skills and qualifications:
** Bachelor's degree in relevant field; Master's degree is preferred
** 5 years of experience in promotion of civil society capacity development, citizen participation and/or related fields
** Detailed understanding of the civil society sector in Georgia
** Demonstrated success in supporting and strengthening civil society, including through international donor-supported programs in Georgia
** Proven ability to communicate skills and experience to others effectively as a trainer or advisor
** Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with civil society groups, opinion leaders, the media, government officials and representatives of the international community at the national and regional levels
** Prior experience in coordinating with national and international organizations is highly desired
** Professional proficiency in English and Georgian is required.
