On April19, the South Caucasus Regional Bureau of the Heinrich Boll Foundation has organized in the Batumi Civic Engagement Center the public discussion on "Rethinking the personality cult: for the deconstruction of the Stalin Myth". Meeting participants have reviewed the study carried out about Stalin.

On April18, the union "Progress" promoting development and cooperation has organized the public meeting in the Batumi Civic Engagement Center on the "XXI Century Batumi Architecture, Present and Future". The meeting evolved in the discussion regime, where the audience has discussed the problems of Batumi's development, urban planning and spatial organization since 2000. In addition, the discussion concerned the issue of a construction permit, new regulations and the future plan of the city's spatial arrangement.

Adjara.On April 17, the public discussion was held in the Batumi Civic Engagement Center on the "Adjara coast line and its coast reclamation alternatives". The six-point scale storm in last month has caused to the Adjara coast line damage worth millions of GEL. According to the part of specialists, all of that was caused by improper infrastructural works and ignorance of construction norms.Further, the participants have discussed what needs to be done to minimize damage to the extent possible during the natural calamities.

Imereti. On April 16, as part of the Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, the initiative group of the Kutaisi Public School #9 has organized the charity event for the children of the Samtredia Day Center for Children with Disabilities. Adjara. On April 11, the research institute of ISET has presented the results of "Research of Regional Problems" in the Batumi Civic Engagement Center. Total of 1405 respondents were interviewed as part of the research, which aimed to identify problems existing in the region, as well as to assess the activities of the self-government and identify the population's trust towards various public and state institutions. The report included collection of information on Georgia's potential to use its favorable geographic location and business environment for becoming the transit, logistical and touristic hub in the Caucasus Region. During the presentation, focus was made on Batumi (and the Adjara Region in general) as the potential regional hub. The report was drafted with the support of the USAID G-PAC project, in partnership with the Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI) of USAID, the National Security Council of Georgia and the National Bank of Georgia.

Samtskhe-Javakheti. On April 9, while being on a business visit to Samtskhe-Javakheti, the members of the CoE Monitoring Committee have met with representatives of the local NGO sector. The first visit was paid to the Samtskhe-Javakheti regional association "Tolerant”, following which the guests have moved to the office of organization "Union of Democrat Meskhetians”. The problems of ethnic minorities were discussed at the meetings. After Akhaltsikhe the CoE representatives went to Akhalkalaki, where they have also met with representatives of the local self-government and the NGO sector.

Tbilisi. The Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information works on a new project, which purports to analyze the developments in Georgia in 1989-1991. "Even after 20 years from the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the final years of the USSR and the initial years of Georgia’s independence are not in fact examined. The G-PAC Program of the East-West Management Institute and the Ilia State University, in partnership with the Columbia University, have organized a conference, at which the Georgian officials, representatives of the academy and the civil society and the American experts have discussed the challenges of the Georgian public policy, including the problems in the healthcare, agriculture, education and the corrections sectors. The Director of the USAID Georgian Mission has focused on the importance of cooperation between the sectors and noted that such interconnection is a precondition of development of the public policy and democracy.
