Draft Law to Set Up Independent Investigation Mechanism

Tbilisi. International organizations are proposing to the Parliament and Government to set up a special model of independent investigation mechanism. Draft law was presented on February 25, attended by human rights activists and representatives of international donors and CSOs, political parties, Parliament and the Government. Manfred Novak, hired international expert from CoE, was a special guest to present his opinion on independent mechanism. Submitted draft law takes into account some of his recommendations as well.
The event was organized by the "Open Society - Georgia" Foundation, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Council of Europe.
