Draft Constitutional Amendments Discussed in Batumi
Adjara. All-public examination of the draft
constitutional amendments was organized on January 23 in the assembly hall of
the ShotaRustaveli State University of Batumi. The first draft of
constitutional amendments relates to the location of the legislative body,
while the second - to the powers of the President. Members of the all-public examination and organizational
commission from the parliamentary majority, representatives of opposition
factions, students and representatives of local CSOs and media have attended
the meeting. After the presentation of draft constitutional amendments,
attending audience has expressed its opinion and position, following which the
opponents of the drafts have left the assembly hall. Similar public discussions
were held in other Georgian cities as well.
