January 29, the UK Embassy
representatives have met with the representatives of local CSOs and media in
the Batumi Civic Engagement Center. The meeting aimed to familiarize parties
with each other and to inform the Embassy on the situation in the region, and
in particular about the changes developing in the Adjara Region after the
elections. Meeting participants have compared the changes at central and local
level and talked about the expectations they had envisioned after the end of
elections. In addition, they have discussed the existing problems in Adjara in
terms of low participation of civil society and the ways of joint solution of
identified problems.
