Tbilisi. Civil society organizations release a statement in regard to a briefing of Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.
"We respond to a statement of Executive Secretary of Georgian Dream and Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia made today, which is a continuation of an aggressive rhetoric towards non-governmental sector. At the briefing today Irakli Kobakhidze spoke with the status of Executive Secretary of the party, which makes us think that opinions voiced by him are reviewed and shared by the party, and this fact furthermore demonstrates acuteness of the issue”, - the statement reads. "We call on the ruling party, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia and other speakers of the party to: ensure existence of a quiet and fair pre-election environment in the country and not hinder the work of elections observer organizations with their groundless accusations; use political and legal mechanisms available at their disposal and demand timely response to alleged facts of corruption, informal governance or impunity from relevant authorities”.
