Samtskhe-Javakheti. Representatives of the "Gender
Equality Network" start fighting for the equality. A joint training of the
"Gender Equality Network" and the journalists took place for 4 days
in Bakuriani. The "Gender Equality Network" has representatives in
every city of Georgia. Main objective of the "Network is to increase a
woman's role in the political processes and to represent, prepare and nominate
leader women for the 2014
local self-government elections. Along with other issues, training participants
have also discussed the problem of coverage of women's issues in media.
Monitoring of 12 media outlets has demonstrated that the gender balance is not
observed in the journalist materials. As a rule, objects of the news stories
are men, which speaks to the fact that media does not notice or is not
interested in women's issues and their achievements.
