Mtskheta-Mtianeti. The "Civic Education Summer Camp -
2012" was opened up on June 30 in Bazaleti, in the training center of the
Free University. The camp was organized within the framework of the "Civic
Education and Teachers' Training Program", which is funded by the US Agency
for International Development (USAID), while the program in Georgia is implemented
by PH-International. Organizer of the camp is the Georgian Association of
Education Initiatives, which simultaneously is the partner organization of the
program in the KvemoKartli Region.
The first
group was organized from June 30 to July 5 with participation of students and
teachers from 11 regions of Georgia. Two more groups of the camp are planned in
July and August. 270 participants from all parts of Georgia will participate in
the camp from all three groups. Students participating in the camp are the
active members of the school civic clubs, who initiate and implement various
civil activities throughout the year.
The
Association organizes the "Civic Education Camp" for the second
consecutive year. Last year 170 participants from 9 regions of Georgia have
participated in the summer civic camp.
Working in the
camp along with the Georgian leaders are the European youth leaders, who are
hosted by the Association within the framework of the EC program "Youth in
Action".
