Tbilisi. Transparency International Georgia released the statement
about roundtable meeting held in MIA. "At the roundtable meeting held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) today, where Transparency
International Georgia (TI Georgia) was also present, Deputy Minister Levan
Izoria confirmed MIA's intention to destroy the illegally recorded videos
depicting private lives of individuals. Deputy Minister stated that videos that
cannot be used as evidence for the purposes of the investigation will be destroyed under supervision of a special commission made up from high
officials and civil society organizations representatives.
TI Georgia welcomes MIA’s commitment to their
initial promise and once again confirms its readiness to observe the process of
destroying the material obtained through unwarranted government surveillance in
previous years” , says the
statement.
