Workshop on Gender, Stereotypes and Equality

Adjara. On July 25-26 in Kobuleti, at the office of the Aged Women’s Association was held a workshop "Gender, Stereotypes and Equality." The workshop was aimed at leading women living in Kobuleti, who have variety of professions for awareness of gender equality and women's rights issues, as well as for information on domestic violence issues and the mechanisms for protection, prevention and rehabilitation from it.The workshop was focused on Orange Day, the day against gender-based violence, which is celebrated on each 25th day of month under the UN Secretary General's campaign. According to one motto of the event - Put on the Orange and Say No to Violence against Women and Girls - participants put the orange ribbons on.  The workshop covered the basic issues in the theoretical and practical aspects of gender. The presentation was shown about gender stereotypes, also there were shown two short films Gender Roles and Gender Stereotypes and Family Roles. At the end of the workshop the participants discussed the problems of women in Kobuleti, about the role of women on the community creeds.In the future, The Aged Women’s Association "Deserving Old Age” plans to provide such workshops and informational meetings for beneficiaries.
