Open Letter of the Women's Information Center
Tbilisi. The Women's Information Center has
addressed the Prime Minister's Aide on Human Rights and Gender Equality Tamar
Chugoshvili and the Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality
MananaKobakhidze with an open letter concerning the Prime Minister's initiative
to determine the notion of a family by the Constitution, and that a family is a
unity of a man and a woman."We believe this language will
restrict the constitutional right of certain part of the society including
single mothers, because the very state is obligated to protect the rights of
mothers and children and facilitate the well-being of families," says the
address.
