Transparency International Georgia (TI Georgia) seeks an
intelligent and motivated individual to join our team working on issues
related to freedom of the media and the development of a sustainable and
independent and Georgian media sector.
Job title:
Media Sector Analyst
The media analyst will be tasked with conducting research and producing
analytical papers and blog posts, be involved in conducting trainings,
workshops, briefings and presentations and participate in policy
consultations. He/She will work under supervision of the project
manager.
Main duties include:
** Collect, manage and analyze relevant data and information on the Georgian media sector;
** Set up and conduct interviews with stakeholders and informants;
** Carry out desk research;
** Develop expertise on specific media related topics, including media regulation and broadcasting technologies;
** Follow global developments in media markets and identify those relevant for Georgia;
** Conduct field research in and outside Tbilisi and provide mentoring/trainings to selected local media outlets;
** Write and edit research papers and blog posts (published in English and Georgian);
** Participate in relevant public events and in consultations with other
stakehodlers (government actors, Parliament, civil society);
** Project-related administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
** Degree in journalism, media management, business, law (specialization
on media or communications is a strong plus), politics, social sciences
or any other relevant field;
** At least four years of relevant professional experience; academic or
professional experience outside Georgia is considered a plus;
** Native Georgian with excellent writing skills;
** Strong English skills, including in writing, and the ability to write
in an engaging way, knowledge of Russian and other languages is
considered a plus;
** Strong, proven research and analytical skills;
** Documented interest in media development, journalism, economics, politics and policy making;
** Strong understanding of the Georgian and international media markets
and developments affecting journalism and the media globally;
** Knowledge of broadcasting technologies and media regulation is considered a plus.
** Ability to meet deadlines and to work with under limited supervision;
** High attention to details and the ambition to produce high-quality output;
** Willingness to learn and further develop personal skills, to work in a
young and dynamic team and to take on additional responsibilities
within the organization over time;
** Strong understanding of ongoing political and socio-economic developments in Georgia;
** The ability to integrate quantitative data into narrative reports.
