Chemonics International, Inc. is seeking to recruit a
Technical Assistant for the USAID-funded Georgia Primary Education Project (G-PriEd).

Background:
The Georgia Primary Education Project (G-PriEd) is designed to provide
comprehensive assistance to the primary education system to improve
reading and math competencies of Georgian and ethnic minority students.
This will be achieved by supporting instructional improvements,
providing supplementary materials, and training teachers to engage in
ongoing school-based professional development.
Objective:
The objective of the Technical Assistant is to support G-PriEd's efforts
to develop and implement a variety of instructional strategies for
reading and math.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
** Participate, together with the G-PriEd staff, in the planning and
implementation of activities in the areas of designing, drafting,
editing and finalizing different instructional materials, including but
not limited to training modules, instructional aids, video scripts,
tabulation and archiving of materials
** Support design and implementation of Parent Engagement component
** Draft letters and other communication means to provide feedback
and/or initiate dialogue with the Project stakeholders and other parties
** Help to design and implement public relations and communications activities
** Manage data, develop correspondence or spreadsheets, prepare reports and file paperwork
** Help to design, organize and implement different competitions among the Project participants
** Draft weekly updates, take notes and produce minutes as requested
** Provide interpretation, translation and editing, as requested
** Participate in observation and monitoring visits
** Perform any other tasks assigned by G-PriEd which are consistent
with her scope of work and the general requirements of the PriEd
project.
Staff Reporting: Technical Assistant reports to the Chief of Party.
Required qualifications/ experience:
** Experience - A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in
education sector. Knowledge of current general education system in
Georgia required.
** Education - Bachelor's degree, or at least 5 years of experience in a
similar position. Experience in the education field preferred.
** Language Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
in Georgian and English essential. Knowledge of Russian, Azeri and/or
Armenian is an asset. Experience in interpretation and translation
(English-Georgian-English) required. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills required.
** Computer Skills - Advanced skills in using Microsoft Word and Excel and electronic communications programs required.
** Interpersonal Skills - Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact,
diplomacy, and patience) in the context of dealing with expatriate and
local staff members, as well as with project stakeholders, USAID, other
donors and government representatives required.
** Self-Motivation and Guidance - Should be organized and
detail-oriented. Additionally, should be able to multitask and
prioritize using good time management skills and be able to work
independently but also as part of a team.
** Ability to Travel - This position will require some travel to schools and other project activity areas within Georgia.
