UNICEF is announcing an opening for the position of Driver as Temporary Assignment to UNICEF Field Office in Sukhumi, Abkhazia, Georgia.
Purpose of the post: Under general supervision of the Field Assistant,
the incumbent performs transportation services for any office related or
programme implementation needs.
Major duties and responsibilities:
** Drives office vehicles for the transport of authorized
personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other
items.
** Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities, as required.
** Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned
vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor
repairs and arranges for other repairs. Ensures that the vehicle is
kept clean.
** Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
** Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken, in case of involvement in an accident.
** Performs other duties such as facilitation of the customs
clearance, assistance in photo coping or binding of documents, etc., as
required.
Requirements:
** Education: Primary education; driver's license (professional category
B and C); knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in
minor vehicle repair.
** Work experience: Two years work experience as a driver; safe driving record.
** Languages: Good knowledge of the local language and knowledge of the working languages of the duty station.
Terms of employment:
Subject to certification of the accuracy of the information provided on
the personal history form and receipt of the medical clearance,
Temporary Appointment in accordance with the salary, benefits and
allowances of a GS2 post applicable to all staff of the United Nations
system. The initial appointment may be renewed given the organizational
needs, availability of funds and good performance record.
Starting date:August 2011.
