The Programming and Training Assistant serves as a member of the Programming and Training Unit (PTU) staff and provides administrative, logistical, translation, training, and program support to the entire PTU, including the Director of Programming and Training (DPT), Program Managers (PMs), Training Manager (TM), Language and Cross-culture Coordinator (LCC), and Homestay Coordinator (HC). He/she reports directly to the DPT.

Program/Volunteer Support
Peace Corps Volunteers currently work under three projects in Georgia: English Education, Individual and Organizational Development, and Peace Corps Response. The PTA will work with Programming staff to provide support for each of these projects as follows:
** Provides support for all programmatic aspects of the Volunteer experience, including project design and review; monitoring, and evaluation; site identification, preparation, selection, and matching; identification, survey, and selection of host families; compiling, organizing and tracking data; reporting on volunteer accomplishments and success stories to PC headquarters and other stakeholders.
** Assists with the maintenance of up-to-date files on programmatic documents and volunteer and site files. Assist in the development of handbooks and materials, collect and file Volunteer requests, and maintain files on all sites and volunteers.
** Provides direct support to volunteers in a number of areas, such as providing information and contacts; dissemination of technical resources or Peace Corps materials; preparation of reports and Descriptions of Service; serving as a reference for Peace Corps policies and procedures; and completion of required procedures.
** Provides organizational, logistical, and administrative support for PTU staff for programmatic and host family events, meetings, and/or site visits.
Training:
Peace Corps provides a series of training for Peace Corps volunteers and their Georgian counterparts, including language and cross-cultural training, technical training, and other areas that prepare Peace Corps volunteers for service, including health, security, and project design and management. The PTA will work with Training staff to prepare for and support all of training events throughout the year, as well as to support ongoing learning needs, as follows:
** Supports TM, LCC, and DPT to design, plan, and implement pre-service, orientation, in-service, counterpart conference, and close of service training events, providing organizational, logistical and administrative support and collaboration with other Units in Peace Corps.
** Assist programming and training staff, resource volunteers, and external trainers in the development of specific orientation and training requirements and, as needed, designing, facilitating or delivering training sessions for training and orientation events.
** Assists in the preparation of technical, language and cross-cultural training information and resource materials. Collaborate with programming and training staff to ensure that they have all necessary program materials for their sessions and activities.
** Supports the training team to manage, track and analyze data, and compile training related reports.
General Administrative Support:
** Knowledge management for the PTU, including the creation, updating, and maintenance of PCV information in Program Files, Site History Files, VIDA, VRT, etc.; development of databases as needed; and filing and organization of the drives.
** Makes appointments and phone calls for PTU staff
** Prepares information packages or other materials for outreach, meetings, training events, TOTs, site visits, homestay surveys, or other events (i.e. PCV site packets, site identification packets, general information about PC/Georgia, agendas, handouts).
** Help to manage and coordinate the travel schedule, lodging reservations, meeting appointments and calendar updates for all Programming and Training staff. Provide general administrative support in the office and backstop Programming and Training staff when they are in the field.
** Serves as liaison for PTU visitors by coordinating travel plans, preparing briefing packets, arranging for hotel reservations, etc.
** Maintains the PTU Calendar and creates other task specific calendars as needed (i.e. site visit calendars or other travel calendars).
** Prepares correspondence, memos, and other materials as needed.
Safety and Security:
Every Peace Corps Georgia staff member has duties and responsibilities directly and/or indirectly associated with safety and security. The duties and responsibilities of the Programming and Training Assistant include a range of tasks to ensure the safety and security of Volunteers.
Other Duties:
** Translates documents, manuals, and letters and provides interpretation at events, as needed.
** Actively supports all staff in backing up other positions and duties when other staff members are not available. This may include travel, grants management, and other duties in place of other staff as needed.
** Participates in training opportunities provided to PC staff.
** Is open and flexible and takes on additional tasks not prescribed in the SOW during busy times or in times of need.
