The National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) is announcing a vacancy for the position of Project Assistant, within the project "Active and Qualified Youth for Local Democracy in Georgia".
The National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organization, which unites all entities of local self-governance of Georgia. The NALAG aims at further developing the local self-governance system; promoting democracy at the local level; decentralizing the government power throughout the country and developing the local self- governance institutions.
Project description:
The Project aims at capacity building among the main political actors in Georgia ahead of the forthcoming local elections to be held in 2014. The project shall unite young leaders from main political parties of Georgia and provide them with intrinsic information regarding the European standards and norms enshrined in the European Charter of Local Self-Government. Brainstorming organized in different regions of Georgia, as well as visits to European capitals and member states of the Council of Europe would support establishing contacts with elected and appointed local officials in Georgia and abroad. The project also aims at creating good working atmosphere among the participants that should ensure co-operation of political parties during the 2014 local elections in Georgia.
Eligibility requirements:
Completed university degree preferably in law or public administration, experience in working for state or non-governmental organization either in project/programme management or co-operation with international partners. Good knowledge of Georgian and English or French languages in oral and written communication. Knowledge of Russian is an asset. Good communication skills, ability to work under pressure. Capacity to take initiative and good judgment in understanding of incumbent's responsibilities. Demonstrated initiative, tact and high sense of responsibility and discretion. Proven computer (MS Office package) skills.
