The primary responsibility of the Medical Assistant is to provide administrative support to the Medical Office staff. Among the basic functions of the medical assistant are: scheduling of medical appointments, maintenance of medical records, reports and tracking systems, maintenance of payment vouchers, office correspondence, accompanying Volunteers to medical specialists and providing translation, assistance in the processing of Medevacs and all COS-ing Volunteers. The Medical Assistant works under the direction and guidance of the Peace Corps Medical Officers and assumes responsibility for the financial and organizational aspects of the provision of medical care to Volunteers and trainees in Georgia.
