Care International in the Caucasus is seeking a Communications Officer for the "Cooperation for Rural Prosperity in Georgia" project.

Cooperation for Rural Prosperity in Georgia is a project which is funded by the EU's ENPARD (European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development) policy initiative. Implemented by CARE and its consortium members it aims to increase the income and living standard of the Georgian rural population by reinvigorating agricultural productivity. This will be achieved through the development of innovative and financially sustainable models of cooperatives so that farmers are better able to reap profits from their agricultural activities. It will also address key barriers in Georgia's agricultural sector through identifying, testing and validating new models of cooperative groups that have the capacity to generate additional revenue for their members and are linked to wider networks of service providers.

As a long term, deeply engaged actor in Georgia and the South Caucasus, CARE's goal in undertaking this project is to set in motion a transformational approach, supporting cooperation that can shape a rural economy able to move towards prosperity and food sufficiency based on diversified, market-driven agricultural enterprise.

The project will be carried out in several municipalities of Guria and Samegrelo, as well as Tsageri in Lechkhumi.

The Communications Officer (CO) will develop and coordinate the execution of "Cooperation for Rural Prosperity in Georgia" project external messaging and contribute in ensuring effective internal communications as per CARE policies.

The responsibilities of Communications Officer include:

** Ensuring project's communications/brand strategy, key messages, collateral materials and web presence reflect project approach and activities in correlation with donor and CARE's policies and marketing/branding strategies;

** Increasing awareness and promoting project image among impact population and various stakeholders;

** Developing, implementing and monitoring project's communications strategies and action plan;

** Developing and ensuring effective cooperation with media and other communications stakeholders to increase awareness about the project;

** Contributing to developing and maintaining internal communication through various approaches and tools.

** Developing relevant collateral materials and ensure effective distribution among impact population and various stakeholders;

** Developing quarterly newsletter and ensure its distribution among various stakeholders;

** Organizing media events/press conferences as required;

** Conducting Field visits to develop the project stories and case studies;

** Providing updated information reflecting all project activities for CARE Caucasus's website;

** Representing project at various PR events and implement PR recommendations as they arise;

** Working closely with publishing house designers in production of the project's various PR materials;

** Developing and file photo materials.

** Providing training to field staff in internal and external communication and PR as necessary.

Qualification:

** Required: Advanced degree in Journalism, media management, public relations or in other relevant fields

** Previous experience of at least three years working with an international organization

** Experience in communications strategy development and implementation

** Key contacts with media representatives

** Excellent experience in both written and oral translation

** Demonstrated ability to leverage media (including social media)

Technical skills:

** Strong written and spoken English, Georgian languages;

** Strong ability in MS Office applications;

** Strong presentation skills;

** Strong writing skills - demonstrated ability to develop collateral materials

Desired requirements:

** Film/Video editing

** Russian language
