Peace Corps initiated its program in Georgia in 2001 with 21 Volunteers working in secondary education English teaching assignments. Since that time, over 500 Volunteers have served in Georgia, exchanging skills with their counterparts, supervisors and community members; sharing American culture; and taking a part of Georgian culture back home to the United States. The fourteenth group of Volunteers will arrive in April 2014. All volunteers will complete a 12 week intensive training course, which is called Pre-Service Training (PST).
Peace Corps Georgia is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Language and Cross-Culture Assistant.

The Language and Cross-Culture Assistant (LCA) will work in cooperation with the language/cross-culture coordinator and PST training director. The LCA will work closely with the language/cross-cultural coordinator to design and plan cross-cultural training activities for both the hub and at training clusters. S/he will monitor language training classes and provide feedback to language and cross-culture facilitators in coordination with the language/cross-culture coordinator and training director. S/he will document reports and conduct language training classes when needed. The LCA will participate in the evaluation of the language training program and the overall assessment of Trainees' language performance and cross cultural adjustment.
Duties and responsibilities:
**Attends and participates in all pre-PST planning meetings and activities including involvement in and facilitation of sessions in the all-staff Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshop;
**Assists in the administration and overall management of the language and cross culture component of PST;
**Works closely with the training director and the language coordinator and assists him/her to design and implement the Language Training of Trainers (LTOT) according to established KSAs;
**Assists the training director and the language coordinator in the design, implementation and evaluation of Georgian language and cross-culture component of PST ;
**Observes and monitors Georgian language classes;
**Gives appropriate feedback to language and cross-culture facilitators;
**Gives appropriate feedback to trainees and responds effectively to their language and cross-culture concerns;
**Documents language and cross-culture facilitators' reports
** Supports the Language/Cross-Culture Coordinator in preparing weekly and final reports.Works closely with the Language/Cross-Culture Coordinator and Training Director and other staff and guest speakers to design and implement Cross-culture sessions during PST;
**Conducts language training classes during PST, as needed;
**Coordinates with the homestay coordinator as well as with the Language/Cross-Culture Coordinator and training director to plan, design, and facilitate cultural activities, including excursions;
**Acts as cross-cultural resource person providing information on Georgian culture, customs, tradition and history;
**Coordinates with the administrative assistant to ensure quality administrative and logistical support to language and cross-culture component of PST (This includes checking LCF supplies in training clusters, drafting supply requests, car requests etc.);
**Performs other tasks as determined by the Language/Cross-Culture Coordinator and Training Manager.
Required qualifications and abilities:
**University degree (preferably in Georgian, English, education or relevant field);
**At least 3 years of experience in training or teaching;
**Knowledge of new teaching methodology (group-work, interactive method, and learning activities, etc.);
**Knowledge of Georgian national history and cultural values and practices; familiarity with Georgian regional customs and traditions;
**Fluency in written and spoken English and Georgian;
**Ability to work within cross-cultural teams, including trainees and staff;
**Demonstrated presentation and training skills - the ability to make presentations professionally in front of a group.
Desired qualifications and abilities:
**Knowledge of cross-culture training tools; experience as a cross-culture trainer;
**Prior experience working with Americans and/or experience living abroad;
**Experience in administrative and secretarial work.

**Note, that only short listed candidates will be invited to the interview. Interviews will be held in March.
**Staff must live full-time in the training sites for a period of 12 weeks and attend orientation training which will be held in Tbilisi.
