Peace Corps initiated its program in Georgia in 2001 with 21 Volunteers working in secondary education English teaching assignments. Since that time, over 500 Volunteers have served in Georgia, exchanging skills with their counterparts, supervisors and community members; sharing American culture; and taking a part of Georgian culture back home to the United States. The fourteenth group of Volunteers will arrive in April 2014. All volunteers will complete a 12 week intensive training course, which is called Pre-Service Training (PST).
Peace Corps Georgia is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Georgian Language/Cross-Cultural Facilitator (LCF) - 7 positions.

The LCF works closely with a small group of Trainees throughout the duration of PST. S/he conducts language training classes, following a prescribed curriculum, and effectively uses a variety of language training techniques, methodologies, and activities. LCFs work closely with the Language/Cross-Cultural Assistant to design, plan, deliver, and evaluate cross-cultural training activities both at the main training venue and at individual training villages. LCFs participate in the evaluation of the language training program and the overall assessment of Trainees' language performance.
Duties and responsibilities:
** Participates in all Training of Trainer (TOT) sessions and activities prior to PST. This includes a General TOT Program with all staff as well as an eight day Language TOT Program during which the language team will prepare the strategy and scope of the language training program.
** Teaches Georgian language and culture classes to a small group of Trainees using a variety of communicative approaches and interactive learning methods. Classes will be taught at the Trainees' training village or town for approximately four hours per day.
** Prepares language training sessions, materials, and resources under the coordination of Language and Cross-Cultural Coordinator (LCC ) and Cross-Cultural Assistant (LCA)
** Assists the LCC and LCA with the preparation of materials, sessions, and activities for the cross-cultural component of training. Helps to identify resources, guest speakers, possible excursion sites, and more.
** Provides regular and consistent feedback to Trainees concerning language acquisition and performance and cross cultural adjustment. In coordination with the Language/Cross-Culture Coordinator and Training Director and the Language and Cross-Cultural Assistant (LCA), designs and implements assessment and evaluation tools to be used to gauge Trainees' proficiency levels.
** Is accessible to Trainees outside of scheduled sessions to provide linguistic and/or cultural information/insight. Strives to present objective, unbiased views of Georgian tradition and practices and encourages Trainees to seek out answers to their own questions.
** Participates in all PST staff meetings, providing detailed feedback and comments on Trainees' performance and adjustment at site, makes recommendations for training improvements, including staff morale.
** Documents Trainee performance in language training under the coordination of the Language/Cross-Cultural Coordinator and Language/Cross-Cultural Assistant to inform decisions to recommend or not recommend that a Trainee become a Peace Corps Volunteer.
** Submits Trainee evaluations and thorough weekly reports in a timely manner. Contributes to the final language training report, documenting all lessons and activities for use in the future.
** Is a model of cultural integration, and is respectful of local customs by representing Peace Corps in a positive manner on all occasions, and respecting the productive relationship already established by post and its staff.
** Provides Language/Cross-Culture Coordinator and Training Director (TD) with recommendations for improvements in language and cross culture training for future PST and IST.
** Acts as a Warden of the training village, which includes certain duties and responsibilities in Safety and Security.
** As member of training staff, ensures the timely implementation of programs and schedules, and follow PC regulations in case of emergency;
** Supports host family program by acting as a liaison between trainees and host families.
Required qualifications and abilities:
** University degree (preferably in Georgian or English or relevant field)
** A background and experience in training or teaching (at least 3 years);
** Knowledge of new teaching methodology (group-work, interactive method, and learning activities, etc.)
** Knowledge of Georgian national history and cultural values and practices; familiarity with Georgian regional customs and traditions;
** Fluency in written and spoken Georgian and English;
** Ability to work in cross-cultural teams, including trainees and staff.
Desired qualifications and abilities: Prior experience working with Americans and/or experience living abroad.

Note that only short listed candidates will be invited to the interview. Interviews will be held in March.
Staff must live full-time in the training sites for a period of 12 weeks and attend orientation training which will be held in Tbilisi.
