The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), an international organisation with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is looking for qualified candidates to fill the above-mentioned position. The position serves the implementation of research activities at the Secretariat of the State Commission for Migration Issues (SCMI) of Georgia within the EU-funded "Enhancing Georgia's Migration Management" (ENIGMMA) project. The selection procedure for the above position will be implemented jointly with the SCMI Secretariat.

ENIGMMA project: Enhancing Georgia's Migration Management

Duration: one year (full time), with the possibility for prolongation

The position offers the possibility to be involved in interdisciplinary research activities on migration issues in Georgia, as well as and to acquire scientific experience and expertise in an international context.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The main tasks of the Long-Term Research Expert will be to support the ENIGMMA project research activities by:
** Drafting scientific reports based on research conducted during the project in migration area;
** Maintaining relations with universities, other academic and research institutions in Georgia with regard to respective project activities;
** Carrying out research requests submitted by the SCMI in order to facilitate decision-making process in the SCMI;
** Jointly with the Georgian and the EU MS project experts and the Secretariat of the SCMI participating in development, drafting and editing of the project publications, including Migration Guidebook, Migration Handbook and Extended Migration profile of Georgia;
** Participating in the organization and implementation of the Summer Schools on applied migration research;
** Contributing to other related project activities.
In addition, the incumbent will be offered one month internship in ICMPD Research unit, as one of the project activities.
Qualification and Experience:
** University degree (minimum Master level) in political sciences, and/or sociology or related field;
** Minimum five years of relevant professional experience (or relevant equivalent in additional higher level education);
** Excellent oral and written English and Georgian communication skills;
** Proven analytical and drafting skills, including the ability to draft scientific reports in English and Georgian;
** Substantial knowledge of migration debates in general, and especially with regard to development in migration field in Georgia, including EU-Georgia visa dialogue and implementation of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan;
** Minimum 5 publications in migration field in general and in Georgia published in Georgian and/or English language;
** Good analytical and interpersonal skills;
** Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
** Ability to work under time pressure in a fast-moving environment.
