G3's major effort in 2014, in regard to promoting good governance at the local level will be directed to support local self-government reform launched by the Government of Georgia. In November 2012, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure (MRDI) began the design a major policy initiative to reform the existing system of local self-government in Georgia. GoG proposes that local government reform in Georgia will alter the way governance is organized and public services are delivered. Responsibilities will be shifted through reform measures to sub-national level for basic public service delivery. This will also imply establishment of new lines of accountability, creating awareness and establishing systems, procedures, and mechanisms to ensure that citizens' voice is heard and resources are utilized in accordance with the local needs.
This activity is to design and conduct a high-standard 2-day long training course for the members of the interim working groups on division of municipal property and liabilities in those 7 municipalities which are currently undergoing the 1st phase of territorial reform.
