The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. NDI programs in Georgia are supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
NDI is currently seeking full time staff members for its program in Georgia. Mandatory work hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Job title: Long-Term Observer Assistant, NDI Georgia
Number of positions: 4
Location: Tbilisi, East and West Georgia
Tasks and responsibilities:
** Work in cooperation with the program team to implement program activities focused on upcoming local self-government elections;
** Write weekly reports and contribute to activity reports, assessments and any other written communication as required;
** Provide research and translation as required, including written translation of legal documents and oral translation during meetings and other program events;
** Provide regular media monitoring of political developments;
** Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
** Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Public Administration or related field;
** Keen interest in political and electoral process;
** Excellent written and oral communication skills required;
** Work experience in a related field is preferred, together with a good understanding of electoral processes and experience in providing interpretation;
** Fluency in Georgian and English required. Good knowledge of Russian would be a strong asset;
** Strong analytical skills required;
** Ability to work in organized manner, meet deadlines and work in a team required;
** Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office programs, Internet) required;
** Travel: Frequent travel to the regions will be required.
