In line with DRC's mandate to promote durable solutions to refugees, internally displaced and other conflict affected populations and in accordance with DRC's global policy of a balanced approach in providing humanitarian assistance, DRC initiated its assistance program in Abkhazia in September 2005. Among multiple projects, DRC is currently implementing an NMFA-funded (Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) education and youth development initiative targeting the Georgian-speaking community in Gali district, Abkhazia. The project focus on providing access to education and other basic social services to children. The project runs from April 2015 to December 2016.
