World First Aid Day

Tbilisi. World First Aid Day 2017 On September 9, 2017 staff members and volunteers of the Georgia Red Cross Society celebrated World First Aid Day (the WFAD is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of September).
"In year 2017, topic of WFAD is "Domestic Accidents” which refers to preventable or unintentional injuries that occur in the home environment. Homes are often perceived as safest places but unfortunately this is where 80 % of accidents occur. On September 9, 2017, with support of the International Committee of Red Cross GRCS conducted First Aid Competition between GRCS FA teams in Gori at the territory of "New Garden”. The event dedicated to the World First Aid Day was hosted by the Gori branch of the Georgia Red Cross Society. FA volunteer teams from 9 GRCS branches (Gori, Tbilisi, Gardabani, Akhmeta, Ambrolauri, Batumi, Kutaisi, Senaki and Zugdidi) participated in the GRCS FA Competition.
GRCS volunteers and local community members were filling in the specifically for the WFAD 2017 developed tests aiming to evaluate whether their homes contain potential dangers or not. GRCS volunteers were giving tips, how to prevent the dangers and make their homes safe and finally GRCS volunteers were teaching them how to provide immediate first aid in case of injury to the casualty(-ies) and were reminding that correctly and timely provided first aid increases chance to save life”, is noted in the statement.
