Public Defender: "Tzigane" is Discrimination against Children Living and Working on Street

Tbilisi. The Public Defender of Georgia terms Use of Term "Tzigane" as Encouragement of Discrimination against Children Living and Working on Street.
On September 6, 2017, the Public Defender addressed TV Pirveli with a general proposal with regard to the use of the term "Tzigane” by a journalist, which according to him, encourages discrimination against children living and working on the street, has a negative impact and strengthens stigma against gypsy children. Accordingly, the Public Defender asked TV Pirveli to delete the TV story from the Facebook page.
The Public Defender was addressed with the abovementioned issue by the NGO Partnership for Human Rights (PHR).
