Tbilisi. Civil Society Development Center (CSDC) identified the most pressing problems of homeless children and presented its policy recommendations to the media. "the most problematic issue facing unregistered children is their ambiguous legal status resulting from a lack of identification documentation. This makes it very difficult for them to receive adequate medical treatment, as hospitals and clinics require legal documentation to provide services. Similarly, the children’s lack of legal status often prevents law enforcement bodies from providing full legal protection from violence and abuse". CSDC calls for increased efforts from government and NGOs to raise awareness among the Georgian public about children living on the street.
