Kakheti. At the initiative of the Associations Management Center (AMC), an
information-coordination meeting was held in Akhmeta on October 31.
The meeting aimed to discuss problems of sheep-farming, as well as
to find potential solutions with active participation of interested parties.
According to representatives of the Associations
Management Center, the EU has funded a study as part of the UNDP project
"Sustainable Management of Pastures in Georgia to Demonstrate to Local
Communities the Benefits and Dividends of Adapting to Climate Change".
During the study they have examined local living conditions of the Tushetian
shepherds, who use the Vashlovani protected territory for winter pastures.
Meeting participants have discussed expected
legislative amendments and regulations aimed at developing the sheep-farming
sector, as well
as increasing the role and participation of parties interested in developing
the sector.
