Tbilisi. The Women's Information Center has released a statement concerning the murder of Sabi Beriani. "We believe that details coming along the murder aggravate the crime further. Persecuting, intimidating and infringing upon the lives of individuals based on their identity is impermissible in the 21st century Georgia. Discrimination of representatives of the LGBT community not only breaches human rights, but contradicts fundamental principles of the Constitution of Georgia and the Law of Georgia on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination. We urge the Ministry of Interior to conduct the investigation process transparently and impartially. Further, we ask media outlets to treat the coverage of similar cases with extreme caution and not to allow the use of hate speech!", the statement says.
