Prospects of Reforming the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior
Tbilisi. The 11th public forum was held on February 9 over the prospects of reforming the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior. Representatives of the Prosecutor's Office, Parliament, Ministry of Interior, international organizations, CSOs and the US Embassy have discussed the topic.
Two main topics were discussed at the meeting: guarantees of independence and effectiveness of the prosecution institute and independence, accountability and transparency of the structure related to reforming the Ministry of Interior system.
The Coalition for "Independent and Transparent Judiciary" has submitted recommendations aimed at developing the independence, effectiveness and accountability of the Prosecutor's Office. The participants have discussed constitutional status of the Prosecutor's Office and its place in the system of state authorities, as well as concrete recommendations, which, if implemented, will increase the independence and efficiency of the Prosecutor's Office.
